Astrid Horstman

Astrid Horstman received her PhD from the VU University, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She spent 18 months as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, USA and, subsequently worked in the group of prof. Luc van Loon at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. For 1 year she worked as a team leader “clinical studies oncology and frailty” at Danone/Nutricia Research and in 2017 she joined FrieslandCampina, Wageningen, the Netherlands as a senior research specialist. In July 2019, Astrid started a new role at Nestlé Research in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her main research interests include the use of physical activity and dietary (lifestyle) interventions to modulate skeletal muscle (protein) metabolism in health, aging and disease.
