Astrid Horstman, FrieslandCampina, The Netherlands
Astrid Horstman received her PhD from the VU University, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She spent 18 months as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, USA and, subsequently worked in the group of prof. Luc van Loon at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. For 1 year she worked as a team leader “clinical studies oncology and frailty” at Danone/Nutricia Research and since 2017 she has been working as a senior research specialist at FrieslandCampina, Wageningen, the Netherlands. Her main research interests include the use of physical activity and dietary (lifestyle) interventions to modulate skeletal muscle (protein) metabolism in health, aging and disease.
