Bruker Optic | G.A.S. | Stable Micro Systems
In terms of quality of life there is no other field at Bruker that plays such a major and direct role as nutrition and the environment. After all, the quality of food has a direct impact on our health and metabolism.
Worldwide, production processes and flows of goods characterize this sector of modern society.
For the manufacturers in the food and beverages industry a range of challenges are faced from authentication of origin, representing the first step in the quality assurance process, to flavor profiling and above all, safety.
Bruker supplies numerous technologies and solutions such as FT-NIR spectroscopy to these fields making it possible to authenticate origin, optimize production processes and continuously monitor the safety of ingredients and final products.
The constant efforts undertaken by food producers and regulatory authorities to ensure quality and safety are matched by the application of our state-of-the-art analytical systems to basic research and development, which is increasingly determining developments in this field.
The many harmful and hazardous chemical, biological substances in the environment constitute an increasingly important issue faced by authorities and consumers alike. Bruker systems provide reliable support in identifying, verifying and eliminating these ever changing and increasing threats.

G.A.S. is manufacturer of trace detectors for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Besides other analytical techniques Ion Mobility Spectrometry, IMS, is primarily applied.
The ion mobility spectrometer of G.A.S. represent customized problem solutions and stand out due to extreme sensitivity (ppbv-/pptv-range), speed of measurement and an attractive value for money ratio. Several patents protect G.A.S.' intellectual property.
The FlavourSpec is a device made for the food control that measures VOCs in the head-space of liquids or solids. Besides the possibility of quantifying single compounds, a purpose-made software allows to match the peak pattern with sensory wise defined flavours. The result classifies unknown samples and characterizes e.g. their quality. This concept corresponds to the so-called 'electronic nose', whereas the FlavourSpec does a physical separation/detection of the volatile compounds due to its GC-IMS arrangement.
The BreathSpec has been developed to analyse VOCs that might carry important information in human breath. To achieve an optimized sampling a precise spirometer is integrated, so that meta-bolic processes can easily be monitored by the BreathSpec without any sample preparation.
The modular concept of G.A.S.’ instruments allows an individual configuration that is realized according to each application e.g. with direct, membrane or 6-port-valve inlet as well as by applying a radioactive (A-IMS, MCC-IMS) or ultraviolet (UV-IMS) ionisation for aromatics.
Stable Micro Systems are the designers and manufactures of the TA.XTPlus, Texture Analysers, Powder Flow Analysers and the NEW Volscan profiler. The TA.XTPlus has been designed specifically for food texture measurement and with an extensive range of probes and fixtures a wide range of applications can be achieved. The Volscan profiler can be used to measure the volume of baked products providing researchers with accuracy, speed and versatility that has never been previously available.
All Stable Micro Systems instruments come with lifetime support, free software updates, 2 year warranty and the extensive application help and support.
